This summer, the Institute of International Leadership has been established under the Overseas Education College of Shanghai Jiaotong University and I am honored to be the first dean.

When I just got back to china, I realized that peope were using the word “leader” to call their boss or superiors no matter in a state-owned company or privately-run enterprise. Actually, some of the leaders are not acting like a leader while others are acting like leaders even though they are not leaders according to their positions. In this case, LEADER is just a title while LEADERSHIP is an ability of management.

These days, most enterprises are always facing difficulies on management. The key fact is that their leaders don’t have certain management abilities in solving the

problems rather than the shortage on facilities or other things.

To meet the requirements, the goals of the Institute of International Leadership is:
1) To the leadership research projects, we will invite scholars and specialists to discuss and make reports.
2) To the leadership skills, we will invite successful people from different fields to share their experience.
3) To the leadership concept, we will invite oversea elites to make case study on management.

I warmly welcome friends from all social circles to keep in touch with us and give us good advice. Hopefully we can make a successful institute under your help and your participation and what we do can contribute to the development of our country.
